Infidelities can occur in both happy and troubled marriages. Sometimes, the main reason goes back to the fact that the involved partner feels that s/he is not getting enough from the relationship or, in other cases, that that spouse is not giving enough.
If the involved spouse has had multiple affairs, then this can be considered a case of sex or love addiction. Such romance and sex addicts are usually driven by the passion they find in new relationships and by their wish to satisfy their sexual needs and orgasms. Some of those people might feel ashamed and worthless during the course of the affair, others, however, can take their chances without any guilty feelings.
One of the most recent infidelity crises is when spouses who have no intention to have an affair start crossing the line from platonic to sexual relationships. This is usually pushed when the affair is in the office or on the internet. The most dangerous kind of affair is the one which combines extramarital intercourse with emotional infidelity.
From the symptoms of emotional affairs are:
1) Emotional intimacy is stronger in the affair than in the marriage;
2) Secrecy and lying; and
3) Physical chemistry.
Every one should notice that it is unfair to compare a love affair with all its romantic idealization with a long-term marriage with all its routine familiarity.
