After eleven years of pregnancy losses, I was finally pregnant and in my sixth month. Yet my happiness was soon shattered.
When I look back at our history together, I see all the excuses my husband used to give me: late parties, conferences, dinner meetings… you name it. However, naïve as I was, I never suspected him. I did not even suspect him despite his sneaking out at night; I used to wake up way after midnight and find his place empty besides me on the bed.
One day (on Valentine’s Day if you can believe it), my husband said he had an urgent meeting that he had to attend. On the following day, a woman called me at work, telling me all the terrible details of their long affair. When I look at it now, I am glad she made that phone call, for I would have never gotten the truth out of my husband.
My husband kept his affair even after I gave birth to my baby twins. That was nearly four years ago.
Now, we are still together; we are still married. Unfortunately, my marriage is devoid of any emotions, passion and, most importantly, trust. I lost the friend in my husband forever and I even think that I lost my love for him… What a waste! What a waste!
