Infidelity strikes us and puts us in a corner not knowing what to do. Hearing others’ stories sometimes help us, therefore, to assess our own situation and evaluate our own circumstances…

Michael and Linda were a twenty-year old American married couple. Linda thought they were leading the perfect life; they had one adult son and another soon to graduate from high school, a nice house, and her husband had a good job that required his traveling to Chicago every now and then to meet key clients.  It was a terrible shock for her, then, to receive a phone call from her sister who was shortly visiting Chicago. Her sister had seen Michael one day by chance with a woman in her late 20s and they were kissing. In complete panic and not knowing what to do, Linda stayed the whole night on telephone calling her girlfriends and crying. According to their advice, she hired a private investigator and Michael was followed. At the end, Linda discovered that her husband had been cheating on her for a couple of years and that he was even promising his lover to divorce Linda and marry her in stead after their younger son goes to college. Not able to take this anymore, Linda confronted Michael and he only said that he wanted a divorce, for she was not giving him what he needed. The marriage was too fragile by then to go on and it, consequently, was dissolved. Due to the proof brought in by the detectives, Linda got all her demands; the marriage was over.
