There is an abundance of information regarding what a woman can do if she discovers her husband’s infidelity. However, few tips can be found regarding what not to do. You should never react blindly after finding the truth, for fear, anger, hurt or the desire for revenge might compel you to say things that you will later regret. 1) Don’t throw your husband out of the house directly after you know about his infidelity. Keep him in the house in order to keep your finger on the pulse of the affair and gather more information. This is much cheaper than hiring a private investigator. Besides, as long as he stays in the house, there is a bigger chance that you will be able to work things out.
2) Do not tell the whole world about his affair, especially if you do not know who the “other woman” is. If you confide in someone, make sure that you can trust him/ her. If others know, they may try to cover his tracks or make excuses for him. Moreover, if you and your husband decide to reconcile, some of the people you have told might not forget that incident and might hold a grudge against him for a long time or even against you for taking him back. Simply exercise caution in who you confide in.
3) Do not ignore the affair or pretend it is not happening, for denial will only make matters worse. Ignoring the truth will only encourage your husband to keep his double life and your silence will be considered a sign of approval. Thus, the sooner you confront him the better.
4) Do not confront him without the 3 Ps (Proof, plan and purpose). Always have a plan before you confront him about his cheating, for cheaters always tend to lie. Present him with the evidence and ask him some pointed questions about the affair. Then listen carefully to his answers and try assessing the situation to be able to take a wise decision.
5) Do not waste your time and energy on the other woman, for getting obsessed will lead to nowhere. It is natural to be curious, but try to concentrate on working things out between the two of you. Trying to confront the other woman will only cause you humiliation and frustration.
